Dr. Azman Firdaus Shafii, was invited to give a talk in a one-day seminar
held at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Tronoh, Perak on
17th July 2006. The seminar entitled "Open Source Software Initiative"
was attended by at least 50 participants, which include lecturers,

After an opening speech by Tuan Haji Muhamad Rosli (the Director
of Policy and Planning Sector ICT of MAMPU) , Dr. Azman introduced
himself, the company (OSS), the history of open source ideology,
developing from old days to the current trend of open source application
of open source and how open source software empowers today's
complicated business requirement.
The next presentation from Open Source System was from the
Vice President (Business Development), Mr. Nicholas Low. In his
presentation, he explained to the audience the uniqueness of this
certification in terms of marketability values and how does these
certifications make UTP undergraduates stands out from the others.
Noticeably, the concept of having a well-known certification has attracted
most of the audience, especially the undergraduates.
As it was an enjoyable and fruitful session, the one-day seminar ends
up with a positive dialogue and a 'Q & A' session between the speakers
and the audience.
